Photographs of Southport using my iPhone with the App, Instagram. The app has been around for a while, but this was the first time I’ve used it. I have to say I am quite impressed with the results. I shot these on the way back from one my eldest son’s activities.

The roundabout at Bikdale beach of the shrimpers horse and cart statue, then a shot through my car window while I waiting for a train at level crosssing in Birkdale village. The vintage red car works well with red lines in the barbers shop. I also stopped to grab photographs of Birkdale station. Back home I photographed a house plant with the garden in the backgound. Its amazing to think that not that long ago I would have needed a camera, lenses, tripod, film, filters, procesing and printing equipment, a darkroom and lots of time. With this you take the shot, work on the image then send to whom ever you like via various social media links or by email. Job done!

Richard & Caroline got married at St Bridget’s  Church, West Kirkby and held their reception in a fabulous Lakeside Marquee at Thornton Manor.  All the talk was about the weather, would it rain, wouldn’t it rain, in the end it rained! but only on and off.  The day started at Caroline’s Parents house. What a fabulous location, looking over the Dee Estuary. You could see the rain clouds in the distance over the tops of the Welsh Mountains and they were heading our way!  I had photographed Caroline’s sisters wedding about five years earlier so it was a pleasure to be invited back to photograph Richard and Caroline’s big day.  Caroline had eight Bridesmaids all of whom were busying themselves getting ready when I arrived,  all was calm considering the amount of people . St. Bridget’s Church was alive to the sound of 180 guests, it was standing room only. The rain stopped just in time and the sun shone as Caroline walked up the winding path to the church on her fathers arm.  On arrival at Thornton Manor Caroline and Richard were ferried across the lake to the surprise and delight of their waiting guests.  Once on dry land again the happy couple and I wandered off to get some portraits. I’m afraid it started to rain again, so we did some shots with an umbrella, I think the shots worked really well.  It’s not worth trying to fight the elements, just go with them. It was a great day all round. Here is a sneak peek of some of my favorite shots.

I had a great time with Ruth and Ben last Saturday. They are getting married on the 5th May. So I arranged to meet up with them for a pre-wedding chat and photo shoot at the Ramada Plaza Hotel in Southport on the Promenade. We chatted over coffee about their big day and how they would like it to go. They’re getting married at the beautiful St Helen’s Church in Tarporley, Cheshire, and then on to the imposing Peckforton Castle – What a superb venue for photography. While we chatted the sun was shining across the Marine Lake; it was a perfect day to take photographs.

Ruth and Ben have decide to use their pre-wedding shoot for a signed image on their Wedding day. By the time we got outside to take the photographs would you believe it, yes, it had started to rain and got quite windy too, typical!!  We made our way around the side of the Hotel and passed by the Waterfront Gallery. We went in to get out of the rain rather than wait for it to stop. I thought it would be a good idea to use the Gallery as a backdrop for some ‘arty style photos’. I think we got some interesting shots. When we managed to escape the two elderly female artists who proudly showed us their work, it had stopped raining – British weather ah! We strolled down the pier taking  photos as we walked. I think Ruth and Ben photographed really well, once they got over their initial embarrassment. I am looking forward to their big day and will post some photographs soon after.

This weeks Photo Friday  is a photograph of  leaded light I saved from going into a skip, the are about ten of them, they don’t fit our windows but we have them propped up around the house until we find the right place for them.  I think they look good just propped up.
