Wedding at Arley Hall

East Meets West
Wedding – Michelle & Adam
Venue –  Arley Hall & Gardens
What a treat, to be asked to photograph Michelle & Adams wedding. To witness and record the union of two cultures coming together. And what a fabulous choice of venue.
Manchester wedding photographer Andrew John knows that Arley Hall & Gardens is a magical venue. It has enormous character, charm and interest with a warm friendly atmosphere and the feeling that Arley is a much-cherished family home. Set amidst breath-taking surroundings; Arley Hall is an impressive example of a Victorian Country House built in the Elizabethan style and is one of the most interesting and attractive stately homes in the country. With a spectacular eighteen acres of Award Winning Gardens with a wonderful eight acres of formal gardens which are amongst the finest in Britain and Europe.
This was the first time I have had the pleasure of photographing bridal preparations at Arley even though I have photographed many weddings there before. Michelle took advantage of the spacious first floor rooms overlooking the gardens for her preparations whilst overseeing her guests arriving as they meandered along the path towards the Hall. Meanwhile Adam was busy meeting and greeting.
Michelle & Adam held their intimate ceremony in Arleys magnificent Drawing Room amid the splendour of its lavish ceilings, elaborate carvings, impressive fireplaces, plasterwork and intricate stain glass windows creating a wonderful feeling of grandeur that added to their altogether perfect wedding celebration.
After the ceremony we strolled through the breathtaking grounds with the unique Quercus Ilex Columns, Pleached Lime Avenue of trees and the Furlong Walk and perhaps the garden’s best known feature its Double Herbaceous Border providing a stunning backdrop for the photographs.
The speeches were a little unusual as Michelle’s fathers speech was in Mandarin, which was then translated into English for the non mandarin speaking guests. Adam himself  managed very confidently to incorporate a little Mandarin into his speech also.
Altogether, a lovely couple and a lovely day.
